Welcome to Chat with GA4 ("Service," "we," "our," or "us"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of our conversational analytics platform for Google Analytics 4 data, operated by Chat with GA4.
By accessing or using our Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you disagree with any part of these terms, then you may not access the Service.
These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access or use the Service.
2. Description of Service
Chat with GA4 is a conversational analytics platform that allows you to:
- Connect to your Google Analytics 4 properties
- Ask questions about your analytics data in natural language
- Receive automated insights, reports, and visualizations
- Create and save comprehensive reports from your analytics insights
- Share reports with team members, stakeholders, or make them publicly accessible
- Export and save conversation history locally
- Access multi-dimensional analytics breakdowns
- Use our Slack bot integration to access analytics insights directly within your Slack workspace
- Utilize slash commands and @mentions to interact with your GA4 data in Slack
- Manage GA4 property settings through Slack commands
- Collaborate with team members on analytics insights within Slack channels
Our Service operates as an interface between you and Google Analytics 4, processing your queries and presenting the results in an accessible format, with the ability to save and share insights through our reporting system. The Slack integration extends this functionality directly into your team's communication workspace.
3. User Accounts and Authentication
3.1 Google Authentication
To use our Service, you must authenticate using your Google account and grant us read-only access to your Google Analytics 4 data. You represent and warrant that:
- You have the legal right to access and analyze the Google Analytics data
- You are the owner or authorized user of the Google Analytics properties you connect
- Your use of the Service complies with Google's Terms of Service
3.2 Slack Integration
To use our Slack bot integration, you must:
- Have administrative permissions to install apps in your Slack workspace
- Connect your Google Analytics account before using Slack commands
- Ensure your Slack workspace complies with your organization's data policies
- Understand that bot responses will be visible to other channel members
3.3 Account Security
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account and Slack workspace. We recommend:
- Using strong, unique passwords
- Enabling two-factor authentication on your Google account
- Regularly reviewing connected applications in your Google account settings
- Managing Slack app permissions and regularly reviewing installed apps
- Immediately revoking access if you suspect unauthorized use
- Ensuring only authorized team members have access to channels where the bot is used
4. Acceptable Use
4.1 Permitted Uses
You may use our Service to:
- Analyze your own Google Analytics 4 data
- Generate reports and insights for business purposes
- Export and share anonymized insights (without raw data)
- Create, save, and manage reports containing your analytics insights
- Share reports with authorized team members or stakeholders
- Use the Service for commercial analysis of your own properties
- Use Slack commands to access your authorized GA4 data within your workspace
- Share analytics insights with authorized team members through Slack channels
- Use slash commands and @mentions to interact with the bot in appropriate channels
4.2 Prohibited Uses
You agree not to:
- Access Google Analytics data you do not own or have permission to access
- Share reports containing confidential information without proper authorization
- Create public reports that violate privacy laws or expose sensitive data
- Use shared reports to circumvent access controls to underlying GA4 data
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service
- Use the Service to violate any applicable laws or regulations
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
- Use automated systems to access the Service except through our provided interfaces
- Share your authentication credentials with third parties
- Use the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
- Install the Slack bot in workspaces where you don't have permission
- Use the bot to access data in Slack channels where it's not appropriate
- Share sensitive analytics data in public Slack channels without proper authorization
- Attempt to use the bot to access other users' GA4 data
- Spam channels with excessive bot commands or requests
4.3 Slack Usage Responsibilities
When using our Slack integration, you are responsible for:
- Ensuring you have permission to install and use the bot in your Slack workspace
- Using the bot only in appropriate channels and with proper authorization
- Respecting your organization's data sharing and communication policies
- Not sharing sensitive analytics data in inappropriate Slack channels
- Managing who has access to channels where analytics data is discussed
- Complying with your Slack workspace's terms of use and policies
- Removing the bot or restricting its access when no longer appropriate
4.4 Report Sharing Responsibilities
When creating and sharing reports, you are responsible for:
- Ensuring you have the right to share the analytics insights contained in reports
- Complying with your organization's data sharing and confidentiality policies
- Setting appropriate access permissions for shared reports
- Regularly reviewing and updating sharing permissions as needed
- Removing or restricting access to reports when no longer appropriate
- Ensuring shared reports comply with applicable privacy laws and regulations
5. Data and Privacy
5.1 Your Data
You retain all rights to your Google Analytics data. Our Service:
- Accesses your data only with your explicit permission
- Processes data in real-time without permanent storage
- Does not share your raw analytics data with third parties
- Stores conversation history locally in your browser only
- Stores report content (insights, charts, visualizations) on our secure servers when you save reports
- Processes Slack interactions in real-time without permanent storage of message content
- Stores minimal Slack workspace and user data necessary for bot functionality
5.2 Slack Integration Data
Regarding our Slack integration:
- Bot Responses: Analytics insights shared through Slack are visible to channel members according to your Slack workspace permissions
- Workspace Isolation: Your data is only accessible within your connected Slack workspace
- No Message Monitoring: We only process messages directly sent to our bot via commands or @mentions
- Temporary Processing: Slack interactions are processed in real-time and not permanently stored
- User Control: You can remove the bot or revoke permissions at any time through Slack's app management
5.3 Report Data Ownership
Regarding reports created through our Service:
- Your Ownership: You own the reports you create and the insights they contain
- Derived Content: Reports contain processed insights derived from your GA4 data, not raw data
- Sharing Control: You control who can access your reports and can revoke access at any time
- Deletion Rights: You can delete your reports at any time
- Export Rights: You can export your report data upon request

Our handling of your data is governed by our Privacy Policy and complies with:
- Google's API Services User Data Policy
- Applicable data protection regulations

- Slack's Platform Policy and API Terms of Service
6. Intellectual Property Rights

The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are and will remain the exclusive property of Chat with GA4. The Service is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws.
6.2 Your Rights
You retain all rights to:
- Your Google Analytics data
- Questions and queries you input into the Service
- Reports and insights generated from your data
- Conversation history stored in your browser
- Content you add to reports (titles, descriptions, annotations)
6.3 Limited License
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for its intended purpose, subject to these Terms. When you share reports, you grant recipients appropriate licenses to view and interact with the shared content.
7. Service Availability and Limitations
7.1 Service Availability
We strive to maintain high availability of our Service, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to:
- Scheduled maintenance
- Technical issues or outages
- Google Analytics API limitations or changes
- Third-party service dependencies
7.2 Usage Limits
We may implement reasonable usage limits to ensure fair access for all users, including:
- Rate limits on API requests
- Limits on concurrent queries
- Daily or monthly usage quotas
8. Disclaimers and Warranties
8.1 Service Disclaimer
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that:
- The Service will be uninterrupted or error-free
- All analytics insights will be accurate or complete
- The Service will meet your specific requirements
- All data will be processed without errors
8.2 Data Accuracy
While we strive to provide accurate insights, we rely on:
- The accuracy of your Google Analytics 4 data
- The reliability of Google's APIs
- AI-generated interpretations which may contain errors
You should verify important insights against your original GA4 data before making business decisions.
9. Limitation of Liability
In no event shall Chat with GA4, its directors, employees, partners, agents, suppliers, or affiliates be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including without limitation:
- Loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses
- Damages resulting from unauthorized access to your data
- Damages resulting from incorrect analytics insights
- Interruption or cessation of service
Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.
10. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Chat with GA4 from and against any claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, or expenses arising from:
- Your use of the Service
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any third-party rights
- Unauthorized access to analytics data through your account
11. Termination
11.1 Termination by You
You may terminate your use of the Service at any time by:
- Revoking our access to your Google Analytics data through your Google account settings
- Removing our bot from your Slack workspace through Slack's app management
- Clearing your browser's local storage to remove conversation history
- Simply discontinuing use of the Service
11.2 Termination by Us
We may terminate or suspend your access immediately, without prior notice, for any reason including:
- Breach of these Terms
- Violation of Google's policies
- Violation of Slack's Platform Policy
- Suspected fraudulent or illegal activity
- Abuse of the Slack bot or excessive usage
- Extended periods of inactivity
11.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination:
- Your right to use the Service ceases immediately
- We will delete any stored authentication information
- Your saved reports will be deleted after a 30-day grace period
- Shared reports will become inaccessible to recipients
- The Slack bot will be removed from your workspace
- Slack-related data and interaction history will be deleted
- Conversation history in your browser remains under your control
- You can request export of your report data before termination
- Provisions that should survive termination will remain in effect
12. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of material changes by:
- Posting the updated Terms on this page
- Updating the "Last Updated" date
- Providing notice through the Service or via email for significant changes
Your continued use of the Service after any changes indicates your acceptance of the new Terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any legal action or proceeding arising under these Terms will be brought exclusively in the federal or state courts located in the United States.
14. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable by a court, the remaining provisions will remain in effect. The invalid or unenforceable provision will be deemed modified to the extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable.
