Important First Step

Before using the Slack bot, you must first connect your Google Analytics account at chatwithga4.com

Connect GA4

Visit chatwithga4.com and authenticate with your Google Analytics account.

Install Bot

Add the Chat with GA4 bot to your Slack workspace.

Start Asking

Use slash commands or @mentions to get analytics insights.

Ask questions about your Google Analytics 4 data in natural language.

Replace 123456789 with your actual GA4 property ID

Using @Mentions

You can also mention the bot directly in conversations to ask questions:

How to use @mentions:

  1. Type @ and start typing "Chat with GA4"
  2. Select the bot from the dropdown
  3. Follow with your analytics question

Best Practices

Do:

  • • Use specific date ranges in your questions
  • • Ask one question at a time for better results
  • • Use the bot in relevant channels
  • • Set up property defaults for each channel
  • • Verify important insights in GA4 directly

Don't:

  • • Share sensitive data in public channels
  • • Spam channels with too many requests
  • • Use the bot without proper authorization
  • • Forget to connect your GA4 account first
  • • Ignore error messages about permissions

Troubleshooting

Bot not responding?

  • • Make sure you've connected your GA4 account at chatwithga4.com
  • • Check that the bot is added to the channel
  • • Verify you're using the correct command format
  • • Try using the command in a DM with the bot first

"No data found" errors?

  • • Use the properties command to check your connected properties
  • • Set the correct property with set-property [ID]
  • • Make sure the date range in your question has data
  • • Check your GA4 property permissions

Need to reconnect your account?

  • • Visit chatwithga4.com and sign in again
  • • Check your Google account permissions
  • • Try revoking and re-granting access if needed
